To ensure compliance with fisheries management regulations AFMA fisheries officers conducted inspections of Commonwealth fish receivers and fishing vessels in Portland, Warrnambool and Port Fairy (all in Victoria) during March 2012.
Officers inspected a total of eight Southern and Eastern Scalefish and Shark Fishery and Southern Squid Jig Fishery vessels and seven Commonwealth fish receivers. Five cautions were issued for minor breaches concerning incomplete paperwork, not having copies of permits on board and not displaying fish receiver permits.
