To celebrate its 20th year, AFMA held a small get-together at its Canberra office for staff, Commissioners and special guests including past Managing Directors, and representatives from industry and other federal agencies.
Chair of AFMA’s Commission the Hon Michael Egan spoke of AFMA’s world-leading fisheries management practices and the pride that staff should feel in working for the agency.
Eleven staff members who have worked at AFMA for the entirety of its existence received recognition of their 20 years of service.
AFMA also used its new video conferencing facilities to allow its Darwin and Thursday Island offices to be a part of the event. This capability is allowing AFMA to keep staff better connected across locations while reducing travel costs.
