The terms and conditions for non-ongoing employees are similar to those for ongoing employees and are covered by the AFMA Enterprise Agreement 2011.  To find out more see our Careers page.

Note: Applicants who have previously applied for AFMA’s temporary employment register will need to reapply.

Eligibility

To be eligible for non-ongoing employment, there are a number of requirements that you must meet.

  • Australian citizenship.  To be eligible for employment with AFMA, you must be an Australian citizen.
  • Redundancy benefits.  If you have received a redundancy benefit from an APS agency or from the Australian Parliamentary Service, you are not normally considered for re-employment prior to the expiry of the redundancy benefit period. You can confirm your eligibility here.
  • Integrity check.  AFMA must verify you are of good character through an integrity check.  This involves:
    • a Police Records Check (PRC); and
    • confirming the details given in your employment application (including employment history, employment references, educational qualifications and professional memberships).

If AFMA receives unsatisfactory reports on any of the above eligibility checks, you may be assessed as unsuitable for employment.  If you have been offered the position, the offer may be withdrawn.

How to Apply

AFMA maintains a Non-ongoing (Temporary) Employment Register where you can lodge your interest in obtaining non-ongoing employment.  The Non-ongoing register is primarily used to fill short-term non-ongoing positions at short notice, however opportunities for longer term employment may arise from time to time.

Applicants should complete the on-line application and submit a current resume, which includes details of your employment history and details of referees.

Applications will remain valid for 6 months from the date that the application is submitted.  At the end of the 6 month period you will need to re-apply to the register if you are still interested in non-ongoing employment with AFMA.
