RFT2008/0870 - Integrated Scientific Monitoring Program (data services in the Southern and Eastern Scalefish and Shark Fishery

AFMA requires the provision of data services for the Southern and Eastern Scalefish and Shark Fisheries (SESSF) to improve management and research decision making. Specifically, AFMA requires a tenderer to undertake manipulation and scientific analysis of Integrated Scientific Monitoring Program (ISMP), Commonwealth Logbook, Catch Disposal Record (CDR), Fishery Independent Survey (FIS) and any other relevant economic or biological data so that the following deliverables are met:

  • An annual fishing season (1 May – 30 April) report for each sector in the SESSF (South-East Trawl Sector [SETS]; Gillnet Hook and Trap Sector [GHATS] and Great Australian Bight Trawl Sector [GABTS]);
  • Annual stock summaries of all applicable SESSF species/groups for Resource Assessment Groups (RAGs);
  • An annual SESSF total catch and discard technical report for stock assessment purposes; and
  • Response to any ad hoc data analysis requests for each sector in the SESSF.

This work will provide summarised fisheries data to the appropriate stock assessment scientists, AFMA managers, RAGs and Management Advisory Committees (MACs) that is essential in stock assessments of quota species at every tier level of assessment as well as management and research decision making. The respondent is referred to the Statement of Requirements in the Request for Tender (RFT) and the Evaluation Criteria for information on the requirements sought by AFMA.

Subject to the Conditions of Tender, AFMA is seeking to enter into an agreement for scientific data services in the SESSF for a period of two years (1 May 2010 to 30 April 2012), with the possibility of an extension for a further two years subject to provider performance and operational requirements.
