APS 6 - Senior Fisheries Officer, Intelligence Unit - Fisheries Operations Branch (PN C00434)AFMA is seeking a suitably qualified and experience individual to fill the role of APS 6 Senior Fisheries Officer in the Intelligence Unit of the Fisheries Operations Branch on an ongoing basis. The Intelligence Unit measures and analyses the nature and extent of compliance risks and provides decision makers with advice about potential threats to the sustainability of Commonwealth fisheries. The Senior Fisheries Officer, Intelligence will conduct a collection and analysis of all-source data and information to produce and disseminate a range of intelligence products. The occupant of the position will work with external contractors and with the AFMA IT section on the delivery of automated reports from the Vessel Monitoring System (VMS) and be able to use the Geographic Information System (GIS) to analyse spatial information, edit data and maps, and present the results of all these operations in order to interpret fishing activities. AFMA is seeking applications to fill the position of Senior Executive Service Band 2, Executive Manager, Fisheries Management Branch. This position offers an exciting opportunity to lead and manage the Fisheries Management Branch. Reporting to the Chief Executive Officer and the Commission this position provides advice on and the management of Commonwealth fisheries within the Australian Fishing Zone and high seas (as appropriate) and for the management and leadership of the staff within the Fisheries Management Branch to achieve AFMA’s objectives. As the Executive Manager you will provide high-level policy, strategic advice and assistance on matters relating to Fisheries Management and represent AFMA in national and international fora. You will also contribute to the overall leadership and strategic direction for the Authority. Applicants with a proven track record and tertiary qualifications in natural resource management would be highly regarded as would the proven ability to critically evaluate scientific advice and participate in scientific discussions at an international level.
