Call for comment: Strategic Assessment Report for the Torres Strait Tropical Rock Lobster Fishery

The Protected Zone Joint Authority (PZJA) in accordance with provisions of the Environment Protection and Biodiversity Conservation Act 1999 (EPBC ACT) has released a draft Strategic Assessment Report for the Torres Strait Tropical Rock Lobster Fishery.

The draft Strategic Assessment Report describes the current status of the fishery and provides information on the proposed management arrangements under the draft Torres Strait Fishery (Quotas for Tropical Rock Lobster (Kaiar)) Management Plan 2016 (the Plan).

The draft plan sets out a quota management system for the Kaiar Fishery.

Those with an interest in the management of the Kaiar Fishery are welcome to provide comments on the draft Strategic Assessment Report by 26 September 2016.
