26 August 2008 - E-Logs Update

AFMA's e-logs program is progressing according to the timetable set by AFMA's Chief Information Officer (CIO), Mark Farrell. AFMA hopes to have commercial software development companies providing a solution for the majority of AFMA fisheries by January 2009.

26 August 2008 - Blacktip Gas Project - Eni Australia

The company responsible for the Blacktip Gas Project, Eni Australia, has contacted AFMA with advice to commercial fishing operators about constructing of infrastructure associated with their project.

14 August 2008 - Northern Prawn Fishery season opens

The 2008 tiger prawn season opened on 1 August. Even with the reduced fleet size of 52 boats, NPF operators will need a very productive season to offset the rapid rise in fuel costs which is impacting severely on the fishing industry in general. Fuel now represents over half the operational costs in the NPF.
