e-Logbooks

Current NPF eLog users

AFMA is re-defining and standardising the format for electronic logbooks (e-Logs).

This affects the pilot scheme that has been used in the NPF for several years.  While the pilot scheme has in many ways been a success, it does not meet the data standards that AFMA requires to put in place if e-Logs are to be extended to all AFMA fisheries.

AFMA has been in discussions with CatchLog on this matter and they have indicated they will develop software which will be compliant with AFMA’s requirements.

NPF operators will need to upgrade their CatchLog software prior to the start of the 2009 banana prawn season to the AFMA compliant version.

We also expect other software providers to offer commercial e-Logbook solutions for boat owners and operators that will be compliant in all of AFMA’s fisheries.

No new boats can be accepted to the NPF e-Log pilot program for the current 2008 tiger prawn season.
