AFMA has commenced a verification of its vessel, name and address records. In order to do this, AFMA will be calling those for whom we currently hold records.
This phone call should take no longer than 5 minutes and the staff member will clearly identify themselves at the start of the call.
As always, strict privacy will be maintained and this information will not be shared with a third party.
The information that we are asking for includes date of birth, current address, telephone number and email address. Your date of birth is used as a unique identifier so that we can confirm who we are talking to. This minimises the chance of someone acting on your behalf without your approval.
Information about registered names, vessel ownership status, vessel details, concession nominations and lease details may also be looked at.
This exercise is purely to ensure that we have reliable information about your fishing concessions and you are not required to submit completely new information.
This up-date will help us to provide you with better and more efficient service.
If you require any other information or have any concerns please contact Anne Shepherd (02) 6225 5361 or email anne.shepherd@afma.gov.au.

The Southern Bluefin Tuna Fishery Management Plan 1995 has been amended.
The 2008 Plan Amendment (No. 01) will take effect on 27 February 2008 and will apply in the current fishing season.
The purpose of the Plan Amendment is to ensure that the management arrangements for the Southern Bluefin Tuna Fishery are consistent with Australia’s domestic and international obligations and reflect the changing nature of the fishery.
It is important that you are aware of the changes introduced by the Plan Amendment and understand how they apply.
A detailed description of the Plan Amendment is available on the AFMA website in the Explanatory Statement along with immediate changes that will apply to the quota management arrangements for the fishery.
