Demersal trawl
There are two basic types of trawls used in Commonwealth fisheries: demersal trawls and midwater trawls. Demersal trawls are used to catch fish or prawns that live on the bottom of the ocean. Trawlers targeting finfish often use one net (this is called a single trawl) or two nets (twin trawl), whereas prawn trawlers may use a twin-rig (towing two nets) or quad-rig (towing four nets).
