Vessel monitoring system
Vessel Monitoring Systems consist of a tracking unit on the vessel, an Automatic Location Communicator (ALC), the transmission medium – Inmarsat C satellite and the base station. In our VMS, ALCs with a built-in Global Positioning System (GPS) are fitted to each vessel and regularly beam information on vessel position, course and speed via an Inmarsat communications satellite to a land earth station (LES) in Perth, and then by land line to a computer base station at our head office in Canberra. We can request automatic reports from vessels at any time as required. Page last updated 28 June, 2005 |
