Partnerships with other agencies

Another important component of the partnership approach is the close working relationship that the Australian Fisheries Management Authority has established with a number of other agencies.

Key agencies include the

  • Fisheries and Aquaculture Branch,
  • Australian Bureau of Agricultural and Resource Economics (ABARE),
  • Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry (DAFF),
  • Bureau of Rural Sciences (BRS),
  • Fisheries Research and Development Corporation (FRDC), and
  • Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO) Division of Marine Research

all of which provide important linkages in the overall management of fisheries within the Commonwealth's jurisdiction. AFMA also consults with the Commonwealth Fisheries Association (CFA) in its role as the peak industry body.
