Managing Our Fisheries

AFMA is responsible for the efficient management and sustainable use of Australia’s Commonwealth fisheries resources.

AFMA develops and implements fisheries management plans and harvest strategies for doing this in a sustainable way, regulates fishing activities through licensing arrangements, collects information about fishing activities and impacts, and ensures management arrangements are complied with.
