Fisheries A to Z index
The value of production of Commonwealth fisheries increased in 2010-11, by 5 per cent to $320 million, contributing 14 per cent of the gross value of Australia’s total fisheries production. (Australian fisheries statistics 2011, ABARES).
The largest of these by value are the Northern Prawn Fishery, Southern and Eastern Scalefish and Shark Fishery Commonwealth Trawl sector, Eastern Tuna and Billfish Fishery, Southern Bluefin Tuna Fishery and Southern and Eastern Scalefish and Shark Fishery Gillnet, Hook and Trap sectors.
