Fisheries management
The Eastern Tuna and Billfish Fishery is managed by AFMA, in accordance with the Fisheries Management Act 1991.
In managing the fishery, AFMA is required to pursue the objectives of the Act including implementing efficient and cost effective fisheries management, pursuing ecologically sustainable development, maximising the net economic returns to the Australian community, ensuring accountability and achieving cost recovery in relation to the Australian Government targets.
The ETBF Management Arrangements Booklet summarises the management arrangements for the ETBF that apply under the Eastern Tuna and Billfish Fishery Management Plan 2010. The booklet for the current season can be found below:
