Australian Tuna and Billfish Fisheries Bycatch and Discarding Workplan 2011-2013

AFMA has renewed the  Bycatch and Discarding Workplan for the Australian Tuna and Billfish Fisheries.

The revised workplan aims to minimise bycatch and discarding of high risk species that have been identified through the CSIRO ecological risk assessment (ERA) process in the Eastern Tuna and Billfish Fishery (ETBF) and the Western Tuna and Billfish Fishery (WTBF).

The workplan’s bycatch action list outlines the management actions that AFMA aims to achieve between 2011 and 2013 to respond to bycatch and discarding of species of high ecological risk in these fisheries.

The workplan forms part of AFMA’s management response under the broader ERA framework, and should be read in conjunction with the ecological risk management reports for the ETBF and WTBF which are available on the Ecological Risk Management page of the AFMA website.
