ETBF Operator Obligations During Recreational Fishing Events

With the recreational and game fishing season already under way, Eastern Tuna and Billfish Fishery (ETBF) operators are reminded of the ETBF Code of Practice for Responsible Fishing in relation to recreational fishing events in NSW.  

 The Code requires that operators should, where practical, avoid fishing in areas where recreational fishing tournaments are in progress to minimise conflict between operators.

 To assist in planning your trips during tournament times, AFMA have posted a list of upcoming NSW fishing events that may interact with ETBF fishing operations below.

 There is also a National Code of Practice for Recreational and Sport Fishing that clearly states that recreational fishers should not interfere with licensed commercial fishers and should also not presume to act as an officer of the law.
