Northern Prawn Fishery Direction 141 – First Season Closures and Northern Prawn Fishery Direction 142 – Prohibition on Fishing
18 May 2010
In May 2010, AFMA approved in consultation with Northern Prawn Fishery Management Advisory Committee (NORMAC), Northern Prawn Resource Assessment Group (NPRAG) and Northern Prawn Fishery Industry Pty Ltd (NPFI) targeting of tiger prawns in areas east of longitude 138º00E for the remainder of the 2010 banana season. The banana season (first season) ends 0200 hours UTC on 10 June 2010.
To implement this change, two NPF Directions were amended and revoked:
- NPF Direction 140 – First Season Closures has been replaced by NPF Direction 141
- NPF Direction 135 – Prohibition on Fishing has been replaced by NPF Direction 142
Following is a copy of the letter sent to stakeholders and a link to the new Directions.
Should you require any further information relating to this amendment or in general regarding management of the NPF, please contact Chelsea Nash on (02) 6225 5456.
