Invitation to apply for industry membership of SharkRAG
AFMA is inviting nominations from industry members to fill a vacant position on the Shark Resource Assessment Group (SharkRAG).
The role of SharkRAG is to provide advice to AFMA Management, the Management Advisory Committees (MACs) and the AFMA Commission. This advice includes the status of the fish stocks, substocks, species (target and non-target species) and on the impact of fishing on the marine environment. RAGs are bodies appointed by the AFMA Commission and report to both the Commission and the MAC.
SharkRAG is responsible for undertaking assessments of the major target and byproduct shark species including Gummy and School Shark, Elephantfish and Sawshark. The role of industry members on the committee is to provide fisheries expertise relevant to the particular fishery and species.
Please note this is a voluntary position. While AFMA will meet reasonable travel and accommodation costs, no remuneration is payable.
