The Australian Fisheries Management Authority (AFMA) is seeking applications for member positions on the Northern Prawn Fishery Resource Assessment Group (NPFRAG). We are seeking members for the period 1 April 2018 to 31 March 2021.
Resource Assessment Groups (RAGs) provide AFMA with scientific and economic advice on the biological, economic and wider ecological factors affecting fisheries. RAG advice is used, along with other information, to inform AFMA’s management decisions. Records from past RAG meetings can be found on AFMA’s website.
Who should apply for RAG membership?
Appointments to RAGs are based on relevant expertise and members are sought for the following positions:
- Scientific, including expertise in environmental sciences
AFMA’s policy document, Fisheries Administration Paper 12 (FAP 12) – Resource Assessment Groups, provides information about the roles of RAGs and their members.
How do I apply for RAG membership?
To be considered for industry positions please submit a written expression of interest (no more than one page) outlining your relevant experience and/or qualifications.
To be considered for other positions, please submit your curriculum vitae and a brief cover note summarising your relevant experience, qualifications and reason for your application.
The applications will be assessed by a selection panel against the following selection criteria described in the Fisheries Administration Paper 12 (FAP 12) – Resource Assessment Groups:
- Stakeholder knowledge relevant to the fishery;
- The ability to contribute knowledge and expertise to RAG discussion; and
- Have the confidence and authority of your stakeholder group to undertake your functions as a RAG Member and be prepared to consult with members of your stakeholder group as necessary to effectively contribute to RAG discussions.
