It’s easy to see just how sustainable our Commonwealth fisheries are with this handy animation we’ve put together. Just take a look for yourself – from 2004-2012, there has been a huge improvement in the number of sustainably fished stocks in Australia’s fisheries.

It’s all down to the combined effort of AFMA, the fishing industry and scientists in increasing the number of sustainably managed fish stocks. And we won’t rest until we’re out of the red.

How do we know? Well, each year all the AFMA-managed fish stocks are assessed by independent scientists for sustainability. The recently released 2012 assessment shows just how sustainable Australia’s Commonwealth fish stocks are, which is good news for everyone.
