The Australian Fisheries Management Authority (AFMA) is seeking comments on an application to use pair trawling (where two boats are used to trawl a midwater net) in the Small Pelagic Fishery (SPF) for an initial 12 month period.
The independent AFMA Commission will make the final decision on whether to allow pair trawling for an initial 12 month period in the Commonwealth SPF after a comprehensive consultation process. View the timetable for consultation.
The SPF Scientific Panel has considered the application and provided draft advice.
