AFMA offering levy deferral to operators impacted by COVID-19

AFMA is offering concession holders the option to defer the next instalment of their levies, which fall due on 1 April 2020, until 15 June 2020.

Concession holders experiencing financial hardship who would like to defer the second levy instalment will need to apply to AFMA by 31 March 2020.

How do I defer my second levy instalment?

To apply to defer the next instalment of your levy, please complete and return the Application to defer Commonwealth management and research levy instalments to levies@afma.gov.au by 31 March 2020. You must apply by this date.

Read the letter sent to concession holders.

If you are able to pay the levy by the original scheduled due date, AFMA encourages you to make the payment as normal.

If your payment is deferred, you will also be able to make part or full payments prior to 15 June 2020.

What if I don’t apply to defer my payment by 31 March?

If you do not seek a deferment, you will need to either: (a) make full payment by the 1 April 2020 due date or (b) have entered into an arrangement to pay. An arrangement to pay would include an administration fee and a percentage of the outstanding total to be paid up-front.

If you do not enter into an arrangement to pay or make full payment by 1 April 2020, a penalty will start to accrue on any unpaid amount.

Third Levy Instalment

AFMA intends to defer the due date of the third levy instalment and will notify concession holders of the revised date as soon as possible.

If you have any questions please email levies@afma.gov.au or call 1300 723 621.
