Aussie seafood on your Easter menu is a great choice for you and our seafood industry

Easter is one of the busiest times for the Australian seafood industry, providing Australian seafood lovers with a range of locally caught, sustainable seafood.

With Easter weekend just days away, the Australian Fisheries Management Authority’s (AFMA) CEO, Wez Norris is encouraging Australians to get adventurous and consider putting something new your menu.

“There are so many locally caught, sustainable seafood options why not branch out and try something new this weekend”, said Mr Norris.

“When you head to your fishmonger, fish market or supermarket this week look at the array of options for your plate.

“Don’t be afraid to ask, ‘what’s in season?’ You will find a range of well-priced fish choices in supply and perhaps even banana prawns caught fresh from the Gulf of Carpentaria.

“Get their recommendation of ‘how to cook it?’ Once you learn how to cook a species like Gould’s squid or scallops, it won’t just be at Easter you enjoy these tasty bite sized morsels.

“Lastly, always ask ‘where it is sourced’? If it is caught by an Australian commercial fisher you can be assured you’re getting quality seafood that supports Australian businesses and coastal communities.”
