Invitation to attend AFMA's annual public meeting

The Australian Fisheries Management Authority (AFMA) annual public meeting will be held on Tuesday, 12 March 2024 from 11:00 am to midday.

This meeting gives those interested, including the public, the opportunity to meet with AFMA Commissioners and discuss AFMA’s progress in pursuing effective management of Commonwealth fisheries.


The meeting will include information about:

  • Commonwealth fisheries management.
  • Commonwealth fisheries domestic, foreign, and international compliance operations.
  • How AFMA engages with stakeholders.
  • Opportunity to address specific topics or questions posed by participants.

Please note, recreational fishing, commercial coastal and inland fishing, and aquaculture fall under State and Northern Territory management and will not be covered in the meeting. 

There will also be an opportunity to address specific topics or questions posed by attendees. On registration, we welcome you to submit questions or topics that you would like addressed during the meeting.

Everyone, including members of the public, are invited to attend.

Registration closes at 5.00 pm on Thursday, 7 March 2024. Please email or call 1300 723 621 to register your attendance. 

The meeting will be held virtually via Microsoft Teams. On registration, an electronic calendar invite, as well as instructions on how to attend the meeting via Microsoft Teams will be sent to you.
