The Australian Fisheries Management Authority (AFMA) is seeking applications for an industry member position on the South East Management Advisory Committee (SEMAC).

As part of its current research funding round, the Australian Fisheries Management Authority (AFMA) is making its annual public call for research proposals to address the research priorities identified for potential AFMA funding in 2022/23.

Today, Friday 27 August marks three years since the Australian Fisheries Management Authority officially opened its office in Lakes Entrance.

The Australian Fisheries Management Authority (AFMA) manages Commonwealth fisheries on behalf of the Australian public. This includes effectively deterring illegal fishing, with strict management rules and regulations, to ensure Australian fish stocks and our fishing industry are viable now and into the future. 

The opening of the Northern Prawn Fishery (NPF) tiger prawn season on Sunday 1 August will see 52 trawlers and crews set sail to catch tiger prawns across Australia’s top end. 

Operation Nasse 2021, an annual cooperative fisheries monitoring, control and surveillance (MCS) operation involving Australia, France, New Zealand and the United States of America, ended on 23 July. 

The Australian Fisheries Management Authority (AFMA) recently reviewed Fisheries Management Paper (FMP) 5, the policy that outlines the arrangements around developmental and exploratory fishing.
