The Australian Fisheries Management Authority (AFMA) is seeking applications for members on three Management Advisory Committees (MACs):

• the Northern Prawn Fishery MAC (NORMAC);
• Tropical Tuna Fisheries MAC (TTMAC); and
• Sub-Antarctic Fisheries MAC (SouthMAC).

The Australian Fisheries Management Authority (AFMA) is pleased to announce that vessel monitoring system (VMS) compliance from Commonwealth fisheries reached a peak of 99.4% as a result of AFMA’s recent zero-tolerance campaign.

The Australian Fisheries Management Authority (AFMA) held its annual public meeting on Wednesday 10 March 2021. Members of the Australian public attended the meeting online.

Fisheries officers from the Australian Fisheries Management Authority (AFMA) and the Department of Primary Industries and Regions (PIRSA) have conducted a joint ‘at sea’ operation to inspect Commonwealth fishing operators involved in the harvest and farming of southern bluefin tuna (SBT).

The Australian Fisheries Management Authority (AFMA) Commission has commended the decision by the Northern Prawn Fishery (NPF) consultative groups and NPF Industry Pty Ltd (NPFI) to close the Redleg Banana Prawn sub-Fishery in the Joseph Bonaparte Gulf (JBG) from April to mid-June each year.

The Australian Fisheries Management Authority (AFMA) annual public meeting will be held on Wednesday 10 March 2021 at 9:30am. This meeting gives the Australian public the opportunity to meet with AFMA Commissioners and discuss AFMA’s progress in pursuing effective management of Commonwealth fisheries.
